A Different Kind of Senior Living Advisor
Ed McAvoy, Founder
He holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and with his experience in clinical counseling, he has unique insight into helping individuals and families manage aging-related stress, dementia challenges, and major life transitions. This background has prepared Ed to approach senior care with both clinical insight and emotional understanding.
Ed also draws on his experience in financial advising, estate planning, and real estate to help families navigate the practical realities of funding care—including private pay, long-term care insurance, and Medicare limitations. His blend of clinical, psychological, and financial expertise empowers families to make confident, well-informed care decisions.
A Different Kind of Senior Living Advisor
Ed McAvoy, Founder
I served 28 years in the United States Army Medical Service Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Throughout my military career, I worked alongside healthcare professionals responsible for caring for service members and their families—an environment where clear communication, trust, and steady guidance were essential.
I strengthened my understanding of senior living challenges by earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. I further enhanced this knowledge through my private practice counseling work, where I supported individuals and families facing stress, aging, and difficult transitions.
In addition to my healthcare experience, I have a professional background in financial advising, estate planning and real estate, helping individuals and families understand the financial realities of long‑term care. This includes private‑pay options, long‑term care insurance, Medicare limitations, and how to use the right resources at the right time. For many families, how to fund care is the most stressful part of the journey, and I provide practical, easy‑to‑understand guidance that helps them move forward with confidence.
This combination of healthcare experience, psychology, estate planning, and long‑term care funding expertise allows me to support families from a broader perspective than simply finding an available community—helping them make informed, confident decisions about the right care for their loved one.

Senior Living Made Simple
Personal Guidance Instead of Online Confusion
Most families don’t know where to start when looking for assisted living or memory care.
Online directories can overwhelm you with options, leave you guessing, and flood your phone and email with sales calls from multiple communities.
My job is to remove the confusion and guide you only to the communities that make sense for your situation — including helping you understand your options for funding long‑term care.

This is an Important Work
This is an Important Work
Over the years, I’ve seen how difficult senior care decisions can be for families. These decisions are rarely just about finding a place to live—they involve questions about safety, independence, finances, family relationships, and quality of life.
I founded My Senior Living Team because I wanted families to have a trusted guide during these important moments. Every family deserves someone who will listen carefully, provide honest guidance, and help them make informed decisions without pressure.
My Core Philosophy
“Every senior deserves the right care at the right time, and every family deserves a trusted advisor to help them navigate the choices ahead. I walk with families from the first signs of change through every stage of the caregiving journey, offering clarity, confidence, and unwavering support.”
